I throw down some colours opposite to the colours i'm going to choose, in order so I can paint over them. whether I could have just gone straight from the lines will become known when I paint over it, but I'd started painting it this way so finished and wasn't that much more effort and I liked the trippy colours. it won't be as trippy when finished.

this is what it looks like before I paint it. a lot of changes from the initial sketch. I'm not sure my new laptop will take a full scene and wasn't compatible with my Cintiq uhhh MacBook Air. so will have to paint just the caterpillar then if all good, I will paint a fantasy scene.

Inkscape review

Inkscape is a great free software. It works good with illustrator. the only thing that needs improving is the resolution can't be changed from 75, which means when an artwork is finished it is hard to see patches that haven't been covered, even going back to finish these patches is hard to finish them. the resolution can be changed to 300 and exported to a png once the artwork is finished. but for a free software it is good to use.
